Griffith, considerat el pare del cinema cl\u00e0ssic, havien creat la United Artists.<\/p>\n<p>En una \u00e8poca en qu\u00e8 els empresaris pagaven sous injustos mesurats per metratge de pel\u00b7l\u00edcula rodada, els quatre noms m\u00e9s grans de la ind\u00fastria del cinema \u2014tots ells pioners de l\u2019star system\u2014 es van unir per canviar les regles del joc creant aquesta companyia cinematogr\u00e0fica amb la voluntat de privilegiar els creadors, atorgant-los un dret in\u00e8dit de control art\u00edstic i comercial. D\u2019aquesta manera es va encetar una nova era en el cinema en la qual l\u2019entreteniment sofisticat i elaborat dels espectadors es va igualar a l\u2019inter\u00e8s pel rendiment pecuniari. Despr\u00e9s de distribuir les produccions dels seus fundadors i d\u2019altres noms com el de Rudolph Valentino o Gloria Swanson, la major, amb el temps, va trobar dificultats financeres i d\u2019altra \u00edndole que van propiciar que l\u2019estudi an\u00e9s passant de mans fins a integrar-se a l\u2019MGM.
